Smoothies are seriously a great way to pack in a nutritious snack into your kids day. Smoothies can actually be beneficial for kids for several reasons:
- Nutrient-Rich: They can be packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from fruits, vegetables, and other healthy ingredients.
- Hydration: They help keep kids hydrated, especially if made with water, milk, or yogurt.
- Easy to Digest: Smoothies are often easier for young kids to consume and digest compared to whole fruits and vegetables.
- Customizable: You can tailor smoothies to meet dietary needs and preferences, adding ingredients like protein powder or seeds for extra nutrition.
- Convenient: They offer a quick and easy meal or snack option for busy families.
Overall, smoothies can be a nutritious and versatile option for supporting kids’ health and growth.
Here’s one of my son’s favorite smoothies.
Ingredients
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 cup frozen mango chunks
1-2 teaspoons spinach powder (adjust to your taste preference)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or more for desired consistency)
Optional: 1 tablespoon honey (for extra sweetness, if desired)
Optional: A few ice cubes (for a thicker, colder smoothie)

Instructions:
- Prepare Ingredients: Peel and slice the banana if needed. Measure out the frozen blueberries, frozen mango chunks, and spinach powder.
- Blend: Add the banana, frozen blueberries, frozen mango, spinach powder, and almond milk to a blender. If you’re using honey, add it at this stage. For a colder, thicker smoothie, toss in a few ice cubes.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender or add a little more almond milk if the smoothie is too thick.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste your smoothie and adjust the sweetness or spinach powder if needed. Blend again briefly to incorporate any adjustments.
- Serve: Pour the smoothie into a cute smoothie cup and enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture.
This smoothie combines the sweetness of mango and banana with the tang of blueberries and the nutritious boost from spinach powder. It’s a great way for you or your kids to start your day or enjoy as a refreshing snack! I make my own spinach powder if you’d like a simple recipe check mine out!
